#11 - Cultivating Emotional Intelligence (EI) in the Era of Artificial Intelligence (AI)

Where:

Zoom

The topic:

When employees and employers are surveyed about the most important skills for their  professional success and the future of businesses, skills in the domain of emotional and  social intelligence are instinctively mentioned (SIYLI 2020, WEF 2023, Capgemini  Research Institute 2019). Broad surveys conducted by the World Economic Forum (with over 11.3 million respondents) and Microsoft (with 31,000 respondents) have revealed  that skills in emotional intelligence are among the top 10 and top 3 critical skills,  respectively, experiencing increased demand in the professional landscape (WEF 2023,  Microsoft 2023). On average, the demand for emotional intelligence skills could be  multiplied by six, with the financial services sector being the most heavily impacted.

This increasing demand for emotional intelligence skills can be attributed to the  accelerated growth of artificial intelligence. The automation of routine tasks, the  evolution of professional roles, and the inability to automate certain tasks are among the key reasons for the surge in demand for emotional intelligence skills (CapGemini Research Institute, 2017). In an AI-dominated era, emotional intelligence (EI) becomes  paramount, ensuring limited human interactions are impactful and fostering innovation,  customer experience, unbiased decision-making, resilience, and inclusive trust-building.

This micro-talk will focus on two reasons why EI skills are becoming increasingly important as AI technology becomes more prevalent in the workplace:

        • Ability for human connection
        • Ability for creativity and innovation

This micro-talk will be held in English, on Zoom.
